Razorlight – Vice
My wife knows when I’m hearing something that I like because I get a faraway look on my face, a secret little smile. When I heard this track by Razorlight I stopped in my tracks and couldn’t move until the song finished. It’s a perfect little punky new wave thing, with a sense of romance and a musical meeting between Bowie and The Clash, but heading off into the dreamy area that stadium era Hurrah touched upon. And then the album followed and it was more of the same. It all sounded like the idea for bands me and my best mate had when we were about 17, cigarettes and romance, speed and sex, smoky rooms and late night trips across London.
Its just a shame that they became so crap afterwards…..
